What separates a trailer repair that holds
A trailer gets written up at the scale for a marker light. The shop puts a bulb in. The next week it is the same light, because the problem was a chafed harness behind the rub rail, and the week after that it is the brake light on the same circuit.
A floor gets a patch over the soft spot. Six months later the forklift goes through it, because the crossmember underneath was cracked and nobody looked.
The symptom is what you came in for. The structure under it is what fails at the roadside. A good trailer repair fixes both, and tells you about the second one before you find it the hard way.
How the assessment works
Every trailer in bay 05 gets inspected for structural, mechanical and electrical problems, not just the one on the work order. The tech walks the frame and crossmembers, pulls up on the floor, sets the brakes and listens for air, checks the harness where it runs, and checks the landing gear and kingpin.
Then you get the quote in writing: parts, materials, labor and timeline. You approve it, or you take the trailer and the list. Nothing starts without a yes.
Before the trailer leaves, it is checked against the DOT inspection items: brakes, air, lighting, tape, tires, coupling, suspension, frame. The qualified DOT inspector on staff does the annual 49 CFR 396.17 inspection in the same shop, so if the annual is due, it can be done on the same visit.

Landing gear and kingpin
Landing gear replacement, leg repair, gearbox service, crank handle repair, kingpin and upper coupler plate replacement.
Suspension and axles
Air bag replacement, leaf springs, shocks, slider repair and pin locks, hangers, and axle alignment on the Hunter HawkEye XL, which reads tractor and trailer axles so a scrubbing axle is measured and corrected instead of guessed at.
Tarp systems
Manual and electric tarp repair, roller bar replacement, tarp replacement, cable and strap repair on flatbeds.
Structural welding and fabrication
Frame straightening, crossmember repair, subframe welding, crack repair and custom fabrication, MIG and TIG, in the shop or on site. A cracked crossmember at a dock does not have to be towed to be welded; the service truck does mobile welding in the Toledo area during shop hours.
Trailer types
Dry vans, flatbeds, reefers, lowboys, drop decks, step decks, dump trailers, tank trailers, grain hoppers and livestock trailers. Reefer unit work has its own page; the trailer side of a reefer, from doors and seals to floors and air chutes, is done here.

Lighting, air, brake and landing gear parts for common trailers are usually on the shelf, which is why those jobs are often same day. Floor material and door hardware depend on the trailer, and the timeline for those is on the quote.

Call for the current labor rate. We do not print it here because it changes and the number you were quoted is the number you should pay.
