Northwood & Oregon, OH and the shop at 820 Matzinger Rd

You are on the I-280 side. We are at the end of I-280.

Northwood, Oregon, Walbridge, Millbury and the warehouses along SR 795 all sit on one road: I-280. That road runs north over the Veterans’ Glass City Skyway and ends at I-75, and the shop is one exit from where it ends. If your truck is sitting at a dock in Northwood with a code it will not clear, you are about 15 minutes from a bay with four technicians in it.

That matters more than the distance to the nearest sign that says truck repair. Distance is only part of downtime. The rest is whether the shop has the parts, the tech and the open bay when you arrive. Call first and all three are waiting.

Directions to 820 Matzinger Rd

From Northwood, get on I-280 north at exit 6, Woodville Rd (SR 51) or Curtice Rd. From Oregon, take Navarre Ave (SR 2) west to I-280 north at exit 7. From Walbridge and the SR 795 warehouses, I-280 north from exit 2.

Stay on I-280 north across the Skyway. I-280 ends at I-75. Follow the ramp signed I-75 south toward downtown Toledo. Take the first exit, 207, Stickney Ave / Lagrange St. Go north on Stickney Ave about a mile and turn right onto Matzinger Rd. The shop is just east of Stickney, on the same campus as Sam’s Travel Center and Sam’s Parking & Storage.

From Northwood exit 6: about 10 miles, about 15 minutes. From Oregon exit 7: about 9 miles. From the truck stops at I-280 exit 1B and Turnpike exit 71: about 13 miles, about 18 minutes.

If you run the west side of Northwood near Wales Rd and Oregon Rd, I-75 north from exit 198 to exit 207 is about 8 miles and skips I-280 entirely.

What the shop brings that a roadside truck cannot

  • Four technicians. ASE certified. Cummins certified. International certified.
  • Certified NAPA Truck Care Center with the NAPA parts network behind it.
  • Qualified DOT inspector. The 49 CFR 396.17 annual inspection and the repair in the same bay, same visit.
  • Hunter HawkEye XL heavy-duty alignment. If the tractor pulls after a curb strike at a dock, we measure it instead of guessing.
  • MIG and TIG welding in the shop, plus mobile welding from the service truck.
  • CARB Clean Truck Check testing for California-bound freight.

Class 4 through Class 8. Trucks and trailers. Same-day on many repairs, depending on parts.

Mobile service to the I-280 docks

Most of what breaks on a trailer in a Northwood yard does not need a tow. Landing gear that will not crank. A door hinge torn loose. An air line rubbed through. A light bar out before a DOT stop. The service truck handles those on site during shop hours, Monday to Friday 8 to 5.

Fleets along I-280 and SR 795 also use the truck for yard PM. The tech comes to the lot, works through the units on a schedule, and the trucks never leave the yard. Call and we will set the interval.

Broken down on I-280

I-280 north of the Turnpike is heavy truck traffic, and the Skyway is the last place you want to lose power. If the truck is failing, get off at the next exit before it quits. Hazards on, triangles at 10, 100 and 200 feet per 49 CFR 392.22, and stay out of the travel lane.

Then call (419) 724-2475. During shop hours, emergency calls go to the front of the line. We dispatch the service truck or clear a bay. Tell us the exit, the direction and the symptom, and the tech loads the truck for it.

Questions drivers and fleet managers ask

Do you come out to Northwood and Oregon?

Yes. Both are inside the service truck's normal range during shop hours, Monday to Friday 8 to 5. Yard PM, mobile welding and on-site repairs at the distribution centers along I-280 and SR 795 are routine calls for us.

What is the fastest way from Northwood to the shop?

I-280 north to the end, where it meets I-75. Follow the ramp for I-75 south toward downtown, take exit 207 at Stickney Ave, and go north on Stickney about a mile to Matzinger Rd. About 10 miles, about 15 minutes.

I am at the truck stops at the Turnpike and I-280. How far are you?

About 13 miles, about 18 minutes. I-280 north from exit 1B all the way to I-75, then exit 207 and Stickney Ave north. If the truck cannot move, call and we will send the service truck to the lot.

Do you repair trailers, or just tractors?

Both. Trailer structure, doors, floors, air lines, lighting, landing gear and brakes. Mobile welding on a trailer that cannot roll is one of the most common calls we get from the I-280 warehouses.
