I am

Four technicians, one independent shop off I-75, and a rule: we tell you what is wrong before we touch it

Who we are, what we are certified to do, and how a job runs through the shop.

Sam’s Truck & Trailer Repair is an independent heavy-duty shop at 820 Matzinger Rd in north Toledo, a mile off I-75 exit 207 (Stickney Ave), a few minutes from I-280 and the Michigan line. We work on medium- and heavy-duty trucks and trailers, Class 4 through Class 8, for owner-operators and fleets across Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan.

We are not a dealer. That means we work on every make that comes through the door, we are not steered toward one parts catalog, and the person who quotes your job is in the building.

What we are certified to do

Certifications are proof, so here is the list:

  • NAPA Truck Care Center. The shop meets NAPA’s standards for service quality, facilities and customer handling, and every repair carries the NAPA Over the Road Nationwide Limited Warranty.
  • ASE certified technicians.
  • Cummins certified.
  • International certified.
  • Qualified DOT inspector under 49 CFR 396.19, performing the 396.17 annual inspection to Appendix A to Part 396.
  • CARB Clean Truck Check testing for trucks that run California.

What is in the building

  • Four technicians. Enough to run scheduled work and still clear a bay for a truck that is down.
  • The Hunter HawkEye XL heavy-duty alignment system: all three axle groups measured together with 3D camera targets, so the axle causing the tire wear is the one that gets adjusted.
  • Engine, transmission, brake, air system, electrical and AC diagnostics and repair, with the fault codes pulled before anyone quotes.
  • Welding and fabrication, MIG and TIG, in the shop and from the service truck.
  • Trailer repair: structure, doors, floors, air lines, lighting, landing gear.
  • A NAPA parts shelf on site, so the common repairs do not wait on a delivery.
  • A service truck for on-site work in the Toledo area during shop hours: mobile welding, on-site repairs, yard PM for fleets.

How a job runs here

  1. You call, come in, or send the request form. If the truck is down, say so; during shop hours it goes to the front of the line.
  2. A tech looks at it and pulls the codes before anyone quotes anything.
  3. You get a call: what is wrong, what it costs, when it is done. Nothing is ordered until you say go.
  4. The work gets done, and the invoice matches the call.

Same-day service for many repairs, depending on parts. When a part is not on the shelf, we tell you when it will be here, before we start.

The Sam’s Hub

The shop sits at the center of the Sam’s Hub campus. Sam’s Parking & Storage for trucks and trailers waiting on a bay or a load. Sam’s Travel Center for fuel and the driver. Sam’s 3PL Solutions for cross-dock and short-term warehouse space. One location, locally owned, with the people who make decisions on the property.

Who we work for

Owner-operators running I-75, the Ohio Turnpike, I-280, US-23 and US-24. Fleets based in Toledo, Sylvania, Maumee, Perrysburg, Northwood, Oregon, Bowling Green, Findlay and Monroe. Carriers passing through who need the truck looked at today and told the truth about what it needs.

The Google rating is public. Read the reviews on this site; they are pulled from the real ones, and we do not write them.

Questions drivers and fleet managers ask

Are you a dealer?

No. Sam's Truck & Trailer Repair is an independent shop. We work on every make, we are not tied to one parts catalog, and the person who quotes your job is in the building.

What trucks do you work on?

Medium and heavy duty, Class 4 through Class 8, trucks and trailers, all makes. Engines, transmissions, brakes, air systems, electrical, AC, suspension, welding and fabrication, and trailer structure, doors, floors, air lines, lighting and landing gear.

Do you come to the truck?

Yes, in the Toledo area during shop hours. The service truck handles on-site repairs, mobile welding and yard PM for fleets. If the job needs a lift or the alignment rack, it comes to the shop.

Are you open on weekends or after hours?

No. The shop is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. During those hours a truck that is down goes to the front of the line. After hours, we take it first thing the next morning.

Is the repair covered by a warranty?

Yes. Repairs at Sam's are backed by the NAPA Over the Road Nationwide Limited Warranty, 12 months from the original repair, honored at participating locations nationwide. The warranty page has the details.
